After viewing a documentary about space travel, a young woman named Alice (Florinda Balkan) begins to suffer from nightmares involving an astronaut stranded on the moon. She begins to take drugs to help her sleep without dreaming. She recieves a strange postcard that beckons her to an old tourist resort. When she arrives there she becomes involved in a series of bizarre events that lead to murder.
Regarded by many giallo fans as one of the oddest, obscurest and greatest of the genre; with its clever plot, great, dreamy atmosphere, top notch performances by Bolkan and Klaus Kinski and highly inspired direction and fantastic visuals by the director and cinematographer (Vittorio Storaro) of "The Fifth Cord".
